Health and fitness is typically the lifestyle most of us want, however, putting in the amount of discipline that it takes to create a healthy balanced lifestyle isn't the easiest for us all.

Most people may say their motivation for the goal they want is what drives them — but, motivation may be part, however, motivation is only temporary. What you need is discipline, because it's permanent. Discipline is what keeps the momentum, it's what creates a drive in you even when you're at you’re breaking point, it's what pushes people even when they do not feel like it.

Let go of this misconception that all you need is motivation to achieve a goal. It's your discipline and determination throughout your journey that counts. It's you showing up even when times are hard, even when the motivation isn’t there anymore.

So here are some tips to help you stay focused, committed, and disciplined even during the rough patches of your health and fitness journey.

Have a routine

Create a daily schedule for yourself; While living this busy life it's nice to have a schedule to follow that keeps you in check - This doesn’t mean scolding yourself every time you don't follow it, but having something that keeps in accountable every day, something to follow so know what your plan of action looks like.

Enjoy the process

Even though life can get crazy, try to enjoy each moment. Usually when we look back on things we wish we could go back and enjoy those moments more.

Have grace with yourself

Give grace to yourself often – I’m not saying you should let everything slide, but don’t be hard on the things out of your control. If you are tired, give yourself a break, If you miss a workout, that’s okay; If you can give yourself rest and understanding, you're more likely to succeed.

Consider pre-planned workouts

This really helped my fitness game; having a workout plan each week is a game changer. Write out your workouts so you know what each day looks like, this makes working out less challenging because you already have a plan of action and you can jump right into it.

Meal prep your meals

Have good meals ready to go, this will ease your mind so you can grab something to eat and stop making bad meal choices.

Wake up early

Once you start, you won't want to stop. Waking up early makes you so much more productive and gives you so much more of the day to work with.

Do the things you do not want to do

Stay disciplined and committed to your goals, and the person you want to become. Nobody is going to fill those shoes but yourself. Motivation won't always be there but your actions and commitment will outweigh it all.
