How to set up your night time routine
How to wind down for the perfect night time routine that sets your morning up for success.
Your night time routine should be just as important as your morning routine.
I feel as though a night time routine is all about setting the mood, setting the mood from the way you light up the house, pampering yourself, to the time you hit the sheets.
I know you came here to learn all about how to set up your night time routine so let's just dive right in.
1. Atmosphere and Aesthetic
For starters, we have to set the mood of our space, and aesthetic. When the space around you looks and feels nice, you will also feel the same.
- Light a candle - it creates an amazing ambiance and smells wonderful.
- Low lights - Keep the lights dim. Let your eyes and body adjust for a more relaxing feel. Having a small lamp or corner light makes a nice aesthetic and cozy feel.
- Play some calm music in the background - Lofi beats are amazing, check out below to listen.
2. Clean space
While still on the topic of setting the mood, create a clean space; a clean house is a clear mind and spirit.
- Clean the kitchen - Imagine waking up in the morning to a clean kitchen, the dishes are done and the countertops are clean. Makes for a clear mind.
- Clean your room - Don't go to sleep in a mess, you don't need to fill your mind with more clutter. Again, when you wake up to a clean room you will feel so refreshed and ready to just start your day.
3. Take out your journal - (This is a must)
Take out your journal and check yourself- write out what you accomplished for the day and what you didn't accomplish, and make a note to do it the next day (make sure you do it)
- Write out your goals every day - this will put you in the habit of knowing what you have to get done every day.
- Track your mood - Write down how you're feeling at that moment. You can start looking back to see what your mood was for the specific day and the things you accomplished to correlate with that mood.
- Write down three things you're grateful for - this will ease your mind into a relaxed state of mind of happiness, and gratitude.
4. Drink something nice
Drink a warm beverage - relax your body and mind. Try staying away from coffee, you don't want to get your heart rate up when you're trying to unwind.
Some good tea:
- Green tea
- Lavender tea
- Camomile tea
- Ginger and lemon
- Chia tea
5. Pamper yourself
Take care of your body - You only have one God given body. Cherish your hair and skin.
- Take a warm bath or shower - adds some essential oils or bath salts and bubbles. (Don't forget the lofi beats)
- Brush your teeth - maybe use some whiting strips and mouthwash to feel extra fresh
- Moisturize - Moisturize your face. We don't need any dry skin while ending our night. I'm loving CeraVe right now, it has been amazing for my face.
- Hair care - Moisturize your hair before bed. This will prevent breakage while you're sleeping. OUAI - Leave-In Conditioner has been wonderful.
- Hair oils for roots and ends - preventive for split ends and strengthening your roots. Give Mielle Rosemary Mint Scalp & Hair Strengthening Oil a try.
- Put your hair in a braid - find some damage-free scrunchies or bands.
6. Educate yourself
Read or learn something new and wind down.
- Affirmation books (Or start writing some down)
- Good blogs - Research topics that interest you and read from people who are doing it already.
- YouTube - it's filled with millions of content, spend some time learning a new skill or learning how to take on that new business endeavor you've been dreaming about.
- Documentary - Watch something new that spikes your interest.
- Podcast - If reading isn't really your style, try listening to a podcast or audiobook.
Here are some great Personal Development books
Don't go a day without learning something new, we can always learn a new skill or learn something about ourselves we never knew before.

7. Ending your night
- Set your night up for the morning
- Fill your water bottle so it is ready to go for you.
- Lay out your workout clothes, or work clothes.
- Say prayers and be grateful for another day.
How we set our night really depicts the feel and the direction of our mornings. Make sure you're setting yourself up for success, be kind to yourself, and remember to always be grateful for where you are in life. There is something beautiful in the making.
