The perfect winter morning routine

If you live somewhere where the temperature starts to drop, it's getting darker around 4:30 pm and life starts to feel like a darker, colder, and more unmotivating place to be...well, then you have come to the right place.

I have learned over the years of going through this season of life that there is a way to make things more warm and cozy, while still accomplishing everything you wanted to do during the day, despite all these external changes that happen during this time of year.

Once the daylight has gone, and it's only about 5:00 pm, all hope can feel lost but I'm here to tell you It all starts with changing your environment and mindset, what I mean is adding more warmth into your home, and your lifestyle, from the foods you eat to the clothes you wear in the house. It's setting the mood right, the aesthetics of your environment, they definitely play a role in our emotions and how we act in our daily lives.

Here are some ways to level up your winter morning routine and conquer the day ahead.

Number 1

Always add warmth to the house

  • Light a candle - can add a motivating ambiance and a cozy smell that can cheer you up.
  • Listen to some soothing music - I would recommend some Chill Lofi music. Here is a great channel on YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_tV5LEBDs7w&t=2494s
  • Keep some through blankets around and handy - use a cozy blanket while you study or work on a business.

Number 2

Workout in the morning rather than the evening

  • Working out in the morning when you're full of energy rather than in the evening when the daylight is gone and you feel like the day has already ended. (Trust me you will thank yourself later)
  • You won't have much motivation to work out (even though you know you should) when it's dark outside.
  • Once you have accomplished that workout the evening is your to relax as you wish

Number 3

Substitute cold foods for warm and cozy foods

  • Smoothies are a great healthy and quick meal but they definitely are a cold drink in the winter, try adding some cinnamon and warmth. (I love peanut butter and banana with a little added vanilla and cinnamon)
  • Drink some warm tea - Green Tea is amazing for a kick of energy without the crash. (definitely needed for the shorter days ahead)

Number 4

Skin and hair care

Perfect face moisturizer
Perfect for split ends and strengthen your hair
Perfect for after the shower to lock in moisture

Number 5

Journal - It can become therapeutic in the winter, especially locked inside more, and the days get shorter.

  • In the morning right out your top 5 goals for yourself, and hold yourself accountable every day, This will keep your day busy and motivating.
  • Write down a list of events you're excited about and some things you're grateful for. (constant little reminders)

As you come to the end of your day try taking a warm bath or shower to raise your body temperature.

Put on your comfy slippers and robe.

Take care of yourself and remember that this time of the season is temporary, you are here, you might as well enjoy all the little things life has to offer and live your best life. You’re amazing!
